Symmetrical Wool Jacket

Fully lined wool chore jacket. Falls just below the waist with a slightly boxy fit.

I’d never worked with a checkered fabric before this project. committing to a symmetrical design made the cutting process one of the most difficult parts of creating this garment for me. I also found the silk-like cupro lining to be pretty challenging to work with, especially when easing the fabric around the armholes.

I used a pre-existing pattern that was based on a vintage chore jacket. I went a size up but shortened the sleeve and body length for a boxier fit with a slight drop shoulder.

I learned a lot through this project and overall am very happy with how it came out. If I could make one change I would’ve cut the patch pockets on the bias to add some visual appeal.
